How many ways can you use a shoe organizer?

The technical side of organizing involves a series of steps:
- Sort items into groups of the same type of objects
- Part with items you don’t need, love or use
- Assign a place for things to be stored
- Containerize items to keep them together so you know how much you have
- Evaluate your system and see if it needs some adjustments to work better for you.

For me the fun side of organizing involves thinking outside the box:
- using old items in new ways
- rearranging furniture to make a better flow in the room
- storing items in fun containers
Today I am going to show you 5 ways to use a shoe organizer.
Storing clothing items
- Store scarves, hats, gloves or mitts. The clear pockets make it easy to get out the right things. In the summer a shoe organizer near the entryway is a good way to store sunglasses, sunscreen and hats. Always a convenient place to keep your masks.
- In your closet, you can store belts, scarves, socks, bras, shoelaces anything that you like to easily grab and go. What clothing items have you stored in a shoe organizer? Oh, yes shoes.
Store cleaning supplies for you or the home.
- Shoe organizers are a good way to store all your shower needs, shampoo, conditioner, soap etc. Take what you need into the shower.
- They are also great in a laundry room. Put your cleaning solutions in the pockets, stainer mover, furniture polish, tile cleaner, rug cleaner, spot remover, clothes pegs, lint brush
- Make it your home repair center, picture hanging kits, sewing kits, fuses, light bulbs, small tools, tapes, glue, felt furniture pads.
Use it in your craft room.
- The picture show quilt squares. The pockets can hold paintbrushes, glue sticks, scissors, tape, ribbon, pencil crayons, markers, rulers, paints. This list is endless.
Use it in your office.
- I took this picture in a book store. These are maps being stored in a shoe organizer.
- You can use it for office supplies, pens, pencils, stapes, business cards, rulers, tape measures, tape, glue, envelopes, cards
- You can sort photos into the pockets
- It can be an easy place to store your receipts by month or category.
What about your plants and gardening items?
- It can hold your plants.
- It can hold your gardening supplies, tools, plant food, seeds, insecticides

What a great article – I’ve seen a lot of ways to use shoe organizers, but many of these are truly unique. I especially like the plant hanger, but I’m sure my cat would climb it and probably destroy all the plants. Maybe on the balcony?
That is a great suggestion to put it on a balcony. You may need to fasten the bottom down so it won’t be damaged by the wind.

I love over-the-door organizer things! I very rarely use it for shoes. Lol, thanks for sharing these tips!
There are so many different over the door organizer to solve almost any problem. The one I use most is over the door hooks.
How about to hold wrapping supplies near the space where you wrap gifts? Ribbon, tape, scissors, bows, tags, etc.
I have seen people cut the bottom out of a pocket so they can slide longer items through one pocket to the next for wrapping paper rolls.
Wow! I never thought of using a shoe organizer to sort plants and gardening supplies. That’s so cool. I’ve used shoe organizers for many of the things you suggested. In addition, I’ve used them to organize dolls and small toys and electronic gadgets, cords, and chargers. In the case with the electronics, we labeled the pockets so it was obvious which gadget the accessories belonged to.
They are very versatile. You can get ones with clear pockets so it is easy to see everything or cloth pockets so there is less visual clutter.
You found so many options for one of my favorite all-purpose organizing tools; the other is plastic dishpans for use as drawers under sinks or on shelves. The over-the-door shoe organizer is magical in terms of all it can achieve, as you’ve illustrated.
I often recommend these kinds of shoe organizers for clients for electronics-related doo-dads, like chargers, computer/printer cables, extension cords, spare batteries, the rechargeable battery charger, extra HDMI and similar TV and audio related cables, and anything related to power or energy. Hanging them on the inside/back of a basement or utility room door, or even the home-office door, ensures they will be handy.

These are such creative ideas! I love how many different applications you’ve thought of here, especially the one about keeping receipts in the office. The ability to use a tool in many different ways means less waste, and I’m all about that! Fabulous uses for pocket shoe holders. I have used them for 3 of the things you suggest but never for gardening supplies or for paper supplies. I really like the idea of using them for quilting squares and the like.
