Transform Your Life with Virtual Organizing!
Reading Time – 5 minutes
When I talk about Virtual Organizing, I say that I support, mentor, coach and provide knowledge so you can successfully complete your organizing project. How many times have you started organizing your home and ran out of energy or time and it never got finished?
How do you help change a life?
I start by making a positive impact on you. Whether you’re looking for a mentor to help you with decluttering, learning a new skill, or time management, the outcome I desire is always the same. I want you to succeed. Let’s explore some ways I make a positive impact on someone else’s life through virtual organizing.
6 Ways I Make a Positive Impact
Figure Out the Relationship You Want to Have
First, what kind of relationship are you looking to have? Do you want me to come alongside and help once in a while? Do you want me to be a formal mentor, possibly in a business setting? Do you want someone to give you knowledge so you know the next steps in the project? Your choice will dictate our next steps. We might meet on a weekly basis for mini sessions or I might be with you while you’re working to guide and encourage you.
Define the Goal
Once we’ve established the format of our meetings, we will create a clear objective. What is the purpose of this organizing session? What do you want to get out of it? What is the role I will have while we are working together? Some people need me to keep them on task and not get distracted. Others want me to tell them what the next step is. Others will tell me to make sure they are donating items and not keeping everything.
Go All In
Don’t go into this unless you’re truly willing to invest in the project with a Virtual Organizer. I am more interested in helping you succeed as a person than marking your achievements off some list.
Know When to Stop
You’ll find the best outcomes in getting guidance from others is when you know what you truly need. To find this out, you might need to lay aside your project and talk with your Virtual Organizer for a while. Your initial problem might not be what you need to solve first. It could be there’s something deeper going on. When you allow yourself room to talk, you will often come around to what’s really bothering you if you give yourself enough time.
Drop Assumptions
I don’t think I know everything, especially about the person I’m mentoring. Rather than assuming anything, I take the time to ask you about yourself. I want to make sure I discover what you want out of this relationship. You may have assumptions about what a Virtual Organizing session will be like. You might feel anxious or overwhelmed. Take time to ask all your questions and get the information you need.
Be Vulnerable
We’ve both had organizing dilemmas we didn’t solve on the first attempt. Be willing to share your catastrophes. There are a lot of lessons to be learned from each other. Your experiences are a valuable tool when it comes to helping others.
In the end, the best way I can make a positive impact on your organizing project is to be open and honest in my desire to help and treat you respectfully. Honesty is crucial to the mentoring relationship. When you have completed your project you will feel lighter, confident and free from the stuff that was holding you back.
